Choosing the Right Snowmobile for Your Keystone Guided Tour or Rental

There are several factors you’ll want to consider when you book a particular machine for your tour. Read the brief overview and then take a look at the details of each recent model snowmobile. Pay close attention to the combined weight limit if you plan on carrying a passenger. If you’re not sure, or have questions, just give us a call and we’ll help you choose!

Drivers and Passengers

In order to drive a full-sized snowmobile, the driver must have a valid driver’s license or driving learner’s permit. Only adults 18 or over with a valid driver’s license can carry passengers. We have snowmobiles that can carry a driver plus one or two passengers. Small children must ride behind the parent and be able to hold on by themselves (one per snowmobile). Up to two larger children can ride behind on one of our 3-seater snowmobiles if they are able to hold on for the duration of the tour by themselves.

Engine Type and Performance

Some of our rental snowmobiles near Keystone, Colorado have two-stroke engines which deliver a quick throttle response and have improved power-to-weight ratio. This means better performance, but has the drawback of more noise and smoky exhaust. These engines are also pull-start. Our other sleds have four-stroke engines that deliver smoother rides and cleaner, more quiet exhaust with the added convenience of push button starting.

Luxury Features

Check the “features” in each snowmobile’s description: some have heated grips and foot warmers. Make your choice based on the kind of experience you want to have and have a great time!

DRIVER ONLY SNOWMOBILES

ADRENALINE 900cc

Engine: Much Faster 4-stroke

• Electric Start
• Much faster than the 600cc
• Hand and Foot warmers

This High Performance snowmobile is for aggressive riders on the Mountain Top Action Tour, the Advanced Tour, and Unguided Rentals. This is our fastest snowmobile and the suspension is tuned for on an off-trail performance. Riders should consider that this machine has less wind protection than the other snowmobiles due to a short windshield.

KIDDIE SNOWMOBILE

Engine: 120 and 200cc

• 120cc speed: about 5mph
• 200cc speed: about 20mph

On any tour, ask your guide to stop at the Kiddie Track to let your little ones drive the Kiddie Snowmobile for a few laps.

ONE AND TWO PASSENGER SNOWMOBILES

SKI-DOO 600cc – Two Seater

Engine: Clean Burning 4-stroke

• Electric Start
• Hand warmers for driver and passenger
• Foot warmers for driver

The Ski-Doo 600cc is our most popular snowmobile because it is so easy to operate and comfortable for its riders. The quiet and clean burning 4-stroke engine has very smooth acceleration. The driver and passenger will enjoy gliding across the snow with a suspension tuned for two riders. An excellent choice for first time riders on any tour.

THREE SEATER

Engine: Clean Burning 4-stroke

• Electric Start
• Heated Seat and Grips

The engine, suspension, and seating are designed to carry a driver plus two passengers with a combined weight up to 600 pounds. It is recommended that one of the passengers be at least 12 years old or older. All passengers must be able to hold on without adult supervision, riding behind the driver.
